Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adam, the speaker of the transitional federal
parliament of Somalia has called on the international community to help
Somali government in its combat operations against Al shabaab.
Mr. Adam said the Al shabaab, which still controls much of southern and
central Somalia, is the enemy of Somalis, spelling that their ideology
has no basis in the Islamic religion. |

The speaker made the comments while addressing a
ceremony in Mogadishu's Villa Somalia to mark the 51st anniversary of
southern Somalia independence and the merger of northern regions
(Somaliland) to south dating back July 1, 1960.
He went on to say that it is needed insecurity activities to be battled
and brought to an end as soon as possible.
Speaking about the severe drought in the horn of Africa nation, the
parliament speaker stated that the Somali people inside and outside of
the country are needed to act quickly to help their brothers and sisters
who are starving because of the drought, adding the government, on its
side, is ready to assist the needy people
